read Renard the Fox ebook Õ↠ tushnahram Renard the FoxThis is translated from the original non Bowlderized Old French folktales with all of the violence sex and blasphemy Unfortunately the translator's techniue of keeping the aa bb cc rhyming pattern in the English version make many parts of the work lose their Medieval feel and sound like modern doggerel I'd give it a 4 for content and a 2 for presentation

read Renard the Fox ebook Õ↠ tushnahram Renard the FoxRaunchy violent moralistic allegoricalyou guessed it this book is MEDIEVAL As such it is great fun but also a little repetitive and simple But the main character is a fox so you can't complain too much

read Renard the Fox ebook Õ↠ tushnahram Renard the FoxThis book was a collection of amusing satirical verse from the middle ages The thing that made it difficult to read was that in the edition I was reading there were endnotes that I had to keep flipping back to I really hate that; why not just use foot notes I'm sure there's a reason but it just makes it harder for me There were some pretty funny parts though and I think it would be interesting to read some of the parts that weren't translated for this edition and learn about the cultural socio historic type background aspects of it
