Autumn Manor Summary ò 104 Autumn ManorI have read uite a few of this author's books now and enjoyed nearly all of them This is no exception The double time line theme is getting overused these days but Helen Goltz manages it well in Autumn Manor Current day events as usual bookend the historical ones as the main characters and the reader slowly discover what actually happened all those years agoThe author's description of World War 2 is often harrowing and I think very real The London Blitz is described in detail and shows that you did not have to go to the war to suffer the effects Main characters die and partners have to survive without them just as really happenedThis is a very readable story with interesting characters which I enjoyed very much although I felt very sad for two of the main ones The ending is satisfying without being too glib Well worth a read

Autumn Manor Summary ò 104 Autumn ManorAutumn Manor was once an elegant grand old place in its days but after years of neglect and abandonment it’s in a very poor state When Rachael Price was young there was a rumour amongst her friends of a hanging that took place many years ago and the ghost that still haunts the manor today One day Rachael was on an outing with her Grandmother Carrie Howell Carrie asked Rachael to stop the car directly in front of the manor Rachael was beginning to feel nervous when Carrie got out of the car but then she could tell that her grandmother knows something of the place by far off look on her Carrie’s face With a little probing from Rachael Carrie would tell the real tragic story of the death that took place and the connection her family had to the manor which inturn would alter Rachael’s futureWhen I accepted the ARC I didn’t not imagine the plot would follow alo

Autumn Manor Summary ò 104 Autumn ManorWhat an absolutely brilliant novel I received Autumn Manor from the author for review and I’m thrilled Helen picked meRachael Price and her 89 year old Grandma Carrie Howell drove past the rundown and ramshackle manor every Sunday when they went for tea to the nearby café Rachael remembered it from her childhood how she and all her friends were scared as it was ‘haunted’ how a man had hanged himself inside how they used to dare each other to go up the front steps and touch the wallthe house had been abandoned for a long time Rachael cou

Autumn Manor Summary ò 104 Autumn ManorWhat a great read but then I am a sucker for war stories Beautifully written you really get a taste of what families experienced during work war 2 Full of highs and lows keeping me gripped at all times and I didn't find it predictable either So many different aspects to the story and I was constantly surprised To me the focus on 'Autumn Manor' wasn't so important though I was far drawn into the James and Lexie saga that the emotional connection to the house just wasn't there I also got confused between Johnathon and Kenneth are they one and the same I also thought that the story was being told by Carrie to her granddaughter Rachael but later on Rachael comments 'my gran didn't tell me that' which confused me Or perhaps I am mis interpreting it If I am honest this book would have been ju

Autumn Manor Summary ò 104 Autumn ManorI came to adore this book by author Helen Goltz It started in the late 1930s in the beautiful tradition of a wealthy daughter Lexie going against an arranged marriage to fall in love with someone else James also wealthy But then the country went to war Suddenly the same weathly daughter found new use for herself by becoming a nurse While her love goes off to war as a war reporter He then enlists and believes in what he is doing and fighting The majority of the novel features letters written to each other Some breath taking surprises and heart wrenching moments throughout This novel had me cheering crying yelling a whole range of emotions Even though it was a work of fiction many of these events did happen and probably was very similar to many
